"Transitioning from college to the workforce is hard for any student. AKA made the transition enjoyable and easy, especially with how warm and welcoming they were to me. During training, I was introduced in depth to fields such as tax and auditing that I only touched upon in college. AKA's training helped me feel confident and competent as a new staff accountant."

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

AKA offers paid internships for qualified college accounting students during tax season and summer. The two internship programs are structured differently, but follow the same objectives:

  • Introduce interns to our firm’s people, policies, and culture
  • Exposure to different services our firm provides with thoughtful training and challenging projects
  • Provide invaluable experience working with our professional staff that will help guide future career choices and prepare interns for the real-life experiences of working in an accounting firm

Tax Season Internship Program – The tax season program spans from mid-January to mid-April with an expected minimum of 20 hours per week. Schedules are flexible to work around student’s class and extracurricular demands, with interns often working some of their hours on Saturdays. The focus of this program is tax and it provides a realistic exposure to the inner workings of our firm plus the tax services we provide during our busiest time of year. Interns will be thoroughly trained in tax preparation/regulations, our firm’s processes and our technology before beginning work on a number of individual tax returns. Regular interaction with the firm’s staff and clients is expected.

Summer Internship Program – The summer program lasts approximately 10 weeks with 8-hour days Tuesday-Thursday. In this program, our interns will be trained in both tax and audit services, as well as be introduced to all the facets of working in a mid-sized public accounting firm. Interns will have the opportunity to meet with clients of our firm and work alongside accomplished team members. The program is highly focused on the educational experience it provides for undergraduate students who wish to pursue a career in public accounting.

“Interning with Albero, Kupferman, and Associates is the best thing an undergraduate student can do if they are interested in the accounting profession. The internship is centered around your education and introduction into the many services provided and systems used by the firm. You are given the chance to surround yourself with experienced public accountants who make a point to provide themselves as mentors and teachers to not only the other members of the firm, but the interns alike. The personable staff and laid-back nature of the firm have made this internship rewarding and a smooth transition into life inside a public accounting firm.”

-Michael Demarest, Summer 2017 Intern
